WATCH – Brazen Polokwane CBD hijacking caught on camera

Three armed men can be seen approaching a stationery vehicle at the Biccard and Grobler intersection before forcing the victim into the back seat.

POLOKWANE – The provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has urged the public to refrain from “spreading wrong vibes” and pleads with them to trust the ongoing efforts of law enforcement in upholding justice and maintaining order.

This follows the arrest of a 42-year-old Nigerian man, Anthony Chukwudi Okafor for dealing in drugs which was caught on video.

The video was taken on Tuesday, May 7 in the Polokwane CBD and has since been circulated on social media in what the public thought was a hijacking.

“The police wanted to provide clarification regarding the events depicted as it raised concerns within the community,” she said.

POLOKWANE – A video of a brazen hijacking at the intersection of Biccard and Grobler Streets has surfaced on social media.

In the video, three armed men can be seen approaching a Polo Vivo before one of the men is seen trying to break the passenger side window with the butt of the gun.

The video goes on to show the men removing the driver from the front seat.

The victim appears to have his hands tied behind his back and is then directed to the back seat before two of the men get into the car, while another gets into a bakkie behind them.

It is unclear when the video was taken.

The Polokwane Review-Observer is awaiting comment from the police on the matter.
