Family of missing Limpopo teen suspect muti killing

Vhutali disappeared after visiting his grandmother in Bunzhe village. The community has been left with many questions with some fearing a muti killing.

LIMPOPO – The family of Vhutali Mukwevho (16) from Tshiedeulu village is losing hope of finding their child who went missing in January.

Concerned residents held a peaceful march to the Siloam police station on May 24, to hand over a memorandum of grievances regarding pending missing persons’ cases.

Vhutali disappeared after visiting his grandmother in Bunzhe village, over 50 km away from Tshiedeulu. The community has been left with many questions, with some fearing that Vhutali might have been killed for muti purposes.

His mother, Ndivhuwo Mukwevho, expressed her frustration to CV, saying they have hoped since January for any news, and that she can’t understand why the investigation is not progressing.

Among their demands, residents called for increased police patrols in the village to restore their sense of safety and for the police to arrest a suspect.

Mukwevho claimed that since reporting the case on January 17, they have received no feedback from the police.

“Each night, I feel my son’s presence and hear his voice, crying. I cannot explain what I am feeling, and I believe that if he had been killed, we would have found something belonging to him,” she said.

Community leader Azwivhadini Magandi expressed the community’s frustration with the police.

“The police are not doing anything to assist us, and we are losing hope. We would be happy if they could arrest someone,” he said.

The memorandum was handed over to station commissioner Lieutenant Colonel Adziambei Nemavunde at the Siloam police station, who promised a response within seven days.
