The show will comprise of mobility track demonstrations, parachute drops, aerobatic displays and many other static displays from some of the biggest names in the aviation and defence industry.

POLOKWANE – The Polokwane International Airport (PIA) will be hosting the Polokwane Airshow 2024 in partnership with Botha Shellhole of the Memorable Order of the Tin Hats (Moths) on June 28 and 29.

The event aims to showcase various aircraft and aviation-related activities, while also providing entertainment and educational opportunities to the public for attendees of all ages.

The airshow will take place over two days, with June 28 specifically targeting the youth in and around Limpopo. The aim is to expose 1 000 learners from our province to various careers and opportunities in aviation, to inspire future generations of pilots, engineers and aviation professionals through aircraft displays, flight demonstrations, and interactive exhibits.

According to show organiser Robin Tapinos, the event will be an excellent opportunity to showcase the airport’s infrastructure, such as runways, aprons, the terminal building, navigation systems as well as facilities, services, and capabilities to a wide audience.

The PIA hopes to attract aviation enthusiasts and potential airport users, including airlines, aircraft manufacturers, businesses, flight schools, investors and tourists, thereby boosting the airport’s profile and revenue.

Tapinos reckons that the event will have a significant economic benefit for the city and will attract visitors from outside the area who will spend money on accommodation, dining, transportation, and souvenirs, stimulating the local economy.

“By attracting large crowds, the airshow creates a platform for networking and collaboration with the community, fostering goodwill and strengthening relationships with stakeholders,” he stated.
