Magatle man hangs himself after allegedly murdering his wife

Police are investigating a murder and inquest case after discovering the bodies of a couple in their home.

LIMPOPO – A couple was found dead in their home just outside the Lebowakgomo area on the afternoon of Monday, June 10.

Police spokesperson Colonel Ledwaba says preliminary investigations revealed that the couple had an argument that led to the 49-year-old male burning his 45-year-old wife with hot water.

The victim sustained severe burn wounds and later succumbed to her injuries.

The husband’s body was also found on the premises, Ledwaba says.

“It appears that the husband committed suicide after the incident as his body was found hanging in one of the rooms of the house.”

The police found a death note with the man’s body that will help with investigations.

The provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe appeals to members of the community who are experiencing difficulties and challenges in their relationships to seek professional assistance to resolve them rather than resorting to acts of violence.

“Couples having relationship challenges should seek professional assistance to avoid the catastrophic consequences of this nature,” says Hadebe.
