PEMPS netball player Khomotso is a natural athlete

Khomotso loves both netball and hockey and says they have taught her dedication, hard work and team work.

POLOKWANE – Khomotso Mathobela from Pietersburg English Medium Primary School (PEMPS) was announced as player of the tournament at the Mitchell House soccer and netball festival for u/13s, held on May 18.

The Gr 7 learner started playing netball seven years ago after her friends nudged her to take up the sport.

“I was curious about netball and decided to give it a try. Through playing, I was able to make new friends and bond with my team mates,” she said.

Khomotso is a natural athlete and plays hockey which she is also good at.

She loves both sporting disciplines because they taught her dedication, hard work and team work.

“Netball has taught me a lot. I now understand the importance of working as a team. I have also learnt to accept our wins and losses and not let them get me down,” she said.

Asked what led her to being chosen as player of the tournament, she said she had worked hard and well within the team. “I took it upon myself to show my teammates how to get perfect interceptions. I always work hard and want to continue playing until I reach my goal of becoming the best. Patience and the ability to work as a team is what makes a good player,” she said.

Her coach, Pricila Sinala said she is proud of Khomotso.

“She is very talented and it’s clear that she will go far. She is doing exceptional in both netball and hockey, and when she sets her mind on something, she follows through and does well.”
