Over 400 foreign nationals among 957 arrested in Limpopo

Several operations took place between July 29 and August 4 in the form of raids on crime hotspots, tracing wanted suspects as well as roadblocks and stop-and-searches. 

LIMPOPO – The provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has praised all role players who participated in various operations that resulted in the arrest of 957 suspects across Limpopo.

The operations took place between July 29 and August 4 in the form of raids on crime hotspots, tracing wanted suspects as well as roadblocks and stop-and-searches.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says 400 undocumented foreigners were among those arrested.

“The arrested suspects face charges that include murder, attempted murder, car-jacking, undocumented immigration, drug-related offenses, theft and robbery, assault and rape. The police also confiscated various types of drugs such as dagga, heroin and nyaope, counterfeit goods, and suspected stolen properties, among others,” his statement read.

“We appreciate the support and cooperation of the public and encourage continued collaboration to combat crime,” Hadebe said.
