Crash causes power outage in Polokwane

A truck crashed into the wall of Laerskool Pietersburg, damaging a mini-substation and causing power disruptions with restoration awaiting a replacement.

POLOKWANE – Earlier this afternoon (October 25), a mini-substation was damaged when a truck crashed into the wall of Laerskool Pietersburg at the intersection of Thabo Mbeki and Dorp Street.

This incident has disrupted the power supply on Dorp and Suid Streets, along with nearby areas served by the affected mini-substation.

Municipality spokesperson, Thipa Selala, stated that while power has been restored in most areas, the damaged mini-substation requires replacement, and there is currently no estimated time for restoration.

“We are awaiting a 500KVA mini-substation; once available, it will be installed,” Selala explained.
