The handover ceremony, held in the Vhembe Council Chamber in Thohoyandou, was attended by principals, education officials and local leaders.

Shailin Govender, MD of One Serve Group, said that to invest in education, is key.

“One Serve Group has always believed that supporting local, talented, and hardworking learners is essential. By investing in education and skills development, we equip young individuals to adapt and contribute meaningfully to our society,” he said. Govender highlighted the company’s successful partnership with UIGC Connect at the University of Venda, which now has Africa’s largest single-user Wi-Fi network, handling nearly 10 000 connections daily.

One Serve Group’s commitment to local schools extends beyond laptop donations. The company plans to conduct surveys and implement necessary technological solutions at each of the 17 recipient schools to enhance learning outcomes and promote digital literacy.

Shumani Ravhuanzwo, Vhembe West district director, expressed gratitude for the support. “These laptops are vital tools that will help our teachers advance learning and teaching. We thank One Serve Group for investing in the education of our youth,” he said.

Vhembe Mayor Freda Nkondo praised the initiative as a meaningful partnership. “Though we are a rural district, our schools have seen infrastructural progress since democracy. Yet, challenges remain, especially regarding access to 4th Industrial Revolution technology. This collaboration with One Serve Group offers young people skills, confidence, and practical experience to prepare them for successful careers,” Nkondo concluded.
