Mitchell House’s Enrichment Centre bids learners a fond farewell

Having reached their 18th year of school, much like their matric peers, learners at Mitchell House's Enrichment Centre, are now concluding their secondary school journey.

POLOKWANE – Friday evening was a mix of bittersweet emotions at Mitchell House’s theatre auditorium, as three learners from the school’s Enrichment Centre – the special needs division – prepared to bid farewell.

Having reached their 18th year of school, much like their matric peers, they are now concluding their secondary school journey.

Parents, teachers and other staff gathered in a warm, balloon-filled auditorium, each sharing heartfelt words of gratitude and memories from their experiences at the centre.

Melissa Mostert, head of phase, graciously created opportunities for younger learners to show their appreciation for the graduating seniors, whom they admire as role models.

These graduates leave prepared for the next chapter, having acquired a range of practical skills in areas such as gross and fine motor development, perceptual and sensory activities, cooking, swimming, horse riding, music, art, grooming, social integration, and general cleaning.

They also completed a comprehensive life skills curriculum, led by their teacher Zureta Groenewald, which covered essential topics like sexual awareness, work experience, functional numeracy and literacy, small business development, community visits, and shopping.
