Dance academy ends year with recital and awards at MH

The Melisa Gilfillan Dance Academy ended the year with a recital and awards ceremony, showcasing ballet and contemporary performances.

POLOKWANE – To end off the year with beautiful memories, the Melisa Gilfillan Dance Academy hosted a dance recital and award ceremony at Mitchell House in the school’s theatre last Saturday evening.

Family and friends came in their numbers to support the dancers who entertained them with a variety of ballet and contemporary dance styles.

The owner of the academy, ballet instructor Melisa Gilfillan ran the programme as she welcomed everyone to the event, and also introduced the performances.

The dancers confidently paraded on the stage in their tutus, flowy dresses and skirts, dancing in groups and individually to various types of ballet and contemporary soothing music.

At the end of the performances, Gilfillan called out the students to come and receive their certificates and medals.

As the academy closes for the year, Gilfillan extended her heartfelt gratitude to the parents for their support, dedication, and encouragement throughout the season.

“Your commitment to your children’s dance journey has been inspiring and truly makes all the difference. Our concert this year was a testament to the hard work, passion, and joy that our dancers bring to the stage, and it wouldn’t have been possible without your enthusiasm and involvement. From the rehearsals to the big performance, your support behind the scenes has been invaluable.”

“Congratulations to all the dancers for their hard work, and a big ‘thank you’ to the parents for being part of this special community and trusting us with your children’s artistic growth. Here’s to another year of learning, growing, and dancing together.”
