Essential tips for stress-free festive travel
Plan ahead for festive season travel with tips on packing essentials, organising documents, and creating a stress-free itinerary.
POLOKWANE – With the festive season in full swing, many people see it as the perfect time to take a well-deserved holiday. Whether it’s a weekend getaway or an extended retreat, travelling during this busy season requires planning and preparation.
Holiday travel often comes with challenges, including high demand, crowded airports, and potential weather disruptions. However, with thoughtful planning and some useful tips, you can ensure a smooth and enjoyable trip.
Keamogetswe Mashiane, an avid traveller, shared his approach to planning: “I always decide on my destination first to avoid wasting time searching. I also check the weather forecast so I can pack appropriately.”
For international travel, Mashiane emphasised the importance of researching entry requirements, such as visas, vaccination certificates, and other essential documents. “I make a list of activities I want to do and prepare everything I need to fully enjoy the experience. Travel is where I find happiness,” he added.
Mashiane also noted that packing essentials like chargers, travel adapters, medication, and snacks is vital, especially for dealing with unexpected delays. “I always carry a mini first aid kit, as I enjoy physically demanding activities like hiking and bungee jumping,” he said.
Planning a trip well in advance is key, especially during the festive season. Booking accommodation in a central location can save travel time, while organising your itinerary early ensures that you won’t forget important items or documents.
With the right preparation, the holiday season can be a time of joy and adventure, free from unnecessary stress.
