Polokwane’s Minki shines in Mrs South Africa 2024

Minki Thokoane claims a top 10 spot and the coveted Mrs Public Choice title, while inspiring her community through empowerment initiatives.

POLOKWANE – The grand finale of Mrs South Africa 2024 dazzled with elegance and inspiration, and among the top contenders was Polokwane’s very own Minki Thokoane.

Rising through the ranks, Thokoane not only claimed a spot in the highly competitive top 10 but also won the coveted Mrs Public Choice title, a testament to her impact and connection with the community.

As an ambassador for Monise Beauty Lash, Thokoane shared her journey of growth and empowerment.

“Growing up in the townships and rural areas of Limpopo, I faced challenges that often made me question my worth,” she said.

Yet, her story is one of resilience. Entering the competition to enhance her public speaking skills, build confidence, and make a difference in her community, Thokoane has proven that determination knows no limits.

“Standing on that stage alongside South Africa’s top entrepreneurs and multi-millionaires, I realised our backgrounds do not define us. We are all destined for greatness,” she said.

One of her most cherished memories from the competition was walking the stage with her daughter, Lesedi, on her birthday. “That moment was pure magic and one I’ll hold close to my heart forever,” she said.

Thokoane reflected on the challenges, especially navigating the demands of social media.

“Overnight, you’re in the public eye. Engaging with followers became crucial, but I embraced ubuntu: ‘motho ke motho ka batho’. That sense of community is what carried me through,” she said.

Grateful for the support of her collaborators, including Almodant, Home of Nula, Mongz Creations, Nyota Social Holding, and WeCapturePhotos, Thokoane is now focused on using her platform to create meaningful change.

Her initiatives include collecting sanitary pads for schools, motivating learners to excel academically, and teaching digital skills to empower youth for the future.

“Thank you to the South African community for believing in me and my cause of helping learners explore tech careers to reduce unemployment. Your support has been my strength,” she said.
