Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala says the truck involved is blocking the bridge and to ensure the smooth flow of traffic, the following alternative routes are recommended:

o Motorists entering the city from the airport are advised to divert via Vermikuliet Street or Pietersburg Street through the Ladine area.
o Motorists exiting the city should use Potgieter Avenue and other available alternative routes.

The heaviest congestion remains in the vicinity of the collision as motorists wait to be diverted.

“The affected section of Landros Mare Street shall be reopened as soon as the obstruction is cleared and the roadway is deemed safe. We urge all road users to exercise patience, adhere to traffic management instructions and plan their routes accordingly.”
