Truck veers into oncoming traffic on Tom Naudé Bridge, two injured

One person was seriously injured while another sustained moderate injuries after a truck veered into oncoming traffic on the Tom Naudé Bridge on Friday morning.

POLOKWANE – A collision involving a truck and two bakkies caused significant traffic disruptions on the Tom Naudé Bridge on Friday morning (January 17).

The accident occurred between 06:30 and 07:00.

According to an eyewitness, the truck was traveling at an estimated speed of 60–80km/h when it veered into oncoming traffic, colliding with one of the bakkies.

As as result, the second bakkie then collided with the rear of the truck, said Polokwane traffic spokesperson Kgaugelo Mphago.

One of the drivers sustained serious injuries while the other bakkie driver sustained moderate injuries. They were transported to hospital.

The truck driver was not injured.

By 09:45, the road had been cleared, and the vehicles involved were removed, allowing traffic to resume.
