Mphoentle Pelong Haven hosts shoe drive for disadvantaged learners
The initiative aims to uplift and instill confidence in learners from underprivileged backgrounds.
POLOKWANE – The newly established organisation, Mphoentle Pelong Haven of Care, is hosting a shoe drive and has called on the community to contribute.
The initiative aims to uplift and instill confidence in learners from underprivileged backgrounds.
Annah Mametsa, fondly referred to as “Mother Theresa,” is the founder of the organisation.
An award-winning community builder and caregiver, Mametsa is known for her unwavering dedication to helping others—even using her own resources when necessary.
“Schools have reopened, yet many learners from disadvantaged families remain withdrawn and struggle with low self-esteem. I am committed to addressing this issue,” said Mametsa.
In addition to the shoe drive, Mametsa also encourages academic excellence by awarding certificates of achievement to top-performing learners.
“Confidence is crucial for children. When they believe in themselves, they can maintain focus on their studies,” she added.
The organisation welcomes all forms of donations, as there are plans to expand by developing infrastructure in the future.
