Police nab suspect connected to multiple crimes in Dennilton

Investigations revealed the suspect's involvement in additional crimes, including two murder cases in Dennilton and Siyabuswa and carjackings.

LIMPOPO – A 32-year-old man, facing multiple charges, including armed robbery, common robbery, two counts of murder and two counts of carjacking will appear in absentia before the Siyabuswa Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (January 28).

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says the suspect, accompanied by an unidentified accomplice, committed a common robbery on Sunday night (January 26) in Moteti Slovo in the Dennilton policing area.

“The victim was walking home when he noticed the pair following him. Attempting to escape, he was chased, caught, and robbed of his cellphone before the suspects fled. Hearing his cries for help, community members intervened, pursuing the suspects into nearby bushes,” he explained.

Ledwaba said one suspect was apprehended and assaulted by the crowd.

“Police arrived at the scene and transported the seriously injured man to a local hospital, where he was arrested and placed under police guard. Further investigations revealed the suspect’s involvement in additional crimes, including two murder cases in Dennilton (2016) and Siyabuswa (2021) and carjackings in Dennilton (2019) and Mametlhake (2024),” he said.

In a separate incident on January 16, the suspect and his accomplice allegedly held a man at gunpoint, stealing his cellphone and sandals as he walked home.

Investigations are ongoing.
