Mpheni orphans receive new four-room house

The Tingwane orphans, once living in a shack, received a fully equipped four-room house thanks to generous community donors.

LIMPOPO – For many impoverished families, the dream of moving from a makeshift shack to a fully equipped four-room house is unimaginable. Yet, for the Tingwane orphans from Mpheni, this dream became a reality on January 6.

The siblings’ plight came to light last year when chief Frank Davhana and Jones Mulaudzi, managing director of Kingpin Financial Services, visited their shack. “The conditions were heartbreaking. These children had no proper shelter, and waiting for government housing would have taken too long. We knew immediate action was needed,” said Davhana during the handover of the new home.

The tribal council, led by Davhana, approached Mulaudzi for help, and the businessman stepped forward to build the house. “We are incredibly grateful to the donors for their generosity. This effort has brought hope and dignity to these children, and I encourage others in the business community to give back,” said Davhana.

Mulaudzi shared his motivation to act: “When I heard about the Tingwane orphans’ struggles, I was moved. They had lost both parents and lived in a shack unfit for anyone, let alone school-going children. Providing them with a safe and decent home felt like the right thing to do.”

The four-room house, complete with double beds, a fridge, and a stove, was handed over in a heartwarming ceremony. Mulaudzi stressed his company’s commitment to supporting vulnerable community members through its social-responsibility programme.

Mahlodi Tingwane (18), who completed Gr 12 in 2023 but couldn’t pursue further studies due to his circumstances, expressed deep gratitude: “Life has been tough, but this house gives us a fresh start. Knowing there are people who care inspires us to dream bigger and work harder. Words cannot express how thankful we are.”
