Polokwane water disruption due to repairs
Polokwane Municipality announces water disruption due to Olifantspoort Plant repairs. Residents urged to use water sparingly during 8-hour shutdown.
POLOKWANE – Polokwane Municipality has informed residents of a temporary water supply disruption, following a shutdown of the Olifantspoort Plant by Lepelle Northern Water.
The shutdown is necessary to repair a leak in the High-Lift Pump Manifold, a component responsible for ensuring efficient water distribution.
The repair process is expected to take approximately 8 hours, from 09:30, due to the extensive scouring involved.
However, given the current low levels in the municipality’s reservoirs, this interruption is likely to exacerbate existing water shortages across the area.
Municipal spokesperson, Thipa Selala says that as of this morning, the reservoir levels are as follows:
- Potgieter: 7%
- 50ML Krugersburg: 0%
- 30ML D: 5%
- 30ML F: 8%
- Seshego: 10%
As a result of these low levels, water supply to all serviced areas will be affected. The municipality urges residents to use water sparingly during this time to help manage the situation effectively.
In an effort to reduce the impact on the community, temporary relief measures will be provided, with the municipality working to ensure that the disruption is addressed as quickly as possible.
