Mankweng businesses support 1 000 families

Bakone Roof Sheet Manufacturers and Fun Waters provide food parcels to 1 000 families, offering vital support to the community.

POLOKWANE – There was no shortage of smiles and gratitude in Mamadimo and the Toronto community in Mankweng as Bakone Roof Sheet Manufacturers and Fun Waters stepped in to lend a helping hand.

A total of 1 000 families received food parcels filled with essentials including maize meal, beans, tinned fish, cooking oil, rice, flour, salt, and soup offering relief to many who needed it most.

Masilo Phala, the founder of Bakone Roof Sheet Manufacturers and Fun Waters, explained why giving back means so much to him.

“I wouldn’t be who I am today without the Mamadimo and Toronto communities,” he said. “Giving back is my way of saying ‘thank you’ and showing appreciation to the place that shaped me.”

Phala said the initiative is part of their bigger mission to fight poverty head-on.

“When we hand out these food parcels, we’re not just filling empty cupboards; we’re recognising the resilience of the people in our community. Food isn’t just about sustenance, it’s a lifeline. And we know that women, who often carry the heaviest burdens, are at the forefront of this struggle.”

The company plans to keep the support coming, focusing on the communities that have supported them in return.

“This is just the beginning,” said Phala. “We’re passionate about making a difference, and we’re determined to continue helping wherever we can.”
