Collisions on Tom Naudé Bridge disrupt morning traffic

Two collisions on the Tom Naudé Bridge caused major traffic delays on Monday morning with authorities investigating the cause.

POLOKWANE – Emergency services, Polokwane traffic officers, and police responded to two separate collisions on the Tom Naudé Bridge this morning (February 3), causing significant traffic congestion along Landdros Mare Street.

The first incident involved a collision between two bakkies on the bridge, resulting in one vehicle’s load of fruit and vegetables spilling onto the roadway.

Further along, near the Pietersburg Street turn-off, a taxi and an SUV were involved in a separate collision.

According to sources at the scene, no injuries were reported in either incident.

Polokwane Traffic Media Liaison Officer Kgaugelo Mphago confirmed that the Polokwane police will investigate the circumstances surrounding both collisions.

“Traffic officers remained on site to manage congestion and assist motorists,” he said.

This marks the second major morning traffic disruption in recent weeks.

On January 17, a truck veered into oncoming traffic on the Tom Naudé Bridge, leaving one person seriously injured and another with moderate injuries.
