Mankweng taxi operators arrested for kidnapping and extortion
The victim alleges the four taxi drivers accused him of operating an unregistered taxi and demanded money from him in exchange for his release.

POLOKWANE – Four taxi operators were arrested for kidnapping, extortion, and assault after allegedly attacking a motorist in Nobody, Ga-Mothapo, on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
Members of the Limpopo Provincial Tracking Team were patrolling the area when they noticed two Toyota Quantums blocking a maroon SUV.
Upon intervention, officers found a 48-year-old man being assaulted by four taxi operators.
The victim alleged that the suspects accused him of operating an unregistered taxi and demanded R2 500 before releasing him.
He later opened a case against the suspects, who are affiliated with the Mankweng Taxi Association.
The suspects, aged 30 to 48, were arrested on the spot and will soon appear before the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court.
Police investigations are ongoing.
