Swift action by Limpopo police and tracking teams led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the arrest of a 38-year-old man.

POLOKWANE – A 38-year-old male suspect is expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court today on a charge of possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle following his arrest in the early hours of Saturday morning (June 7).

The Limpopo police spokesperson Col Malesela Ledwaba said the man was found in possession of a stolen motor vehicle on the N1 South near Polokwane.

“Between 23:00 on Friday (June 6) and 03:00 on Saturday (June 7), members of the Limpopo Provincial Flying Squad acted swiftly on information received regarding a white Toyota Cross reported stolen earlier this month in Rustenburg, North West. Through the assistance of Tshimollo Security and a tracking company, the team spotted and intercepted the vehicle. It was found being driven by a single male. Upon further inspection, it was discovered that the vehicle was fitted with false registration plates and that the vehicle was sought by Rustenburg SAPS,” his statement read.

Ledwaba said the suspect was arrested on the scene and the vehicle was successfully recovered.

The provincial police commissioner Lt Gen Thembi Hadebe applauded the swift and coordinated response of all role players involved in the successful recovery of the stolen vehicle and the apprehension of the suspect.
