Mankweng police hunt for suspects after R71 fatal shooting
The Mankweng police are searching for two suspects after a man was fatally shot in his car along the R71 on Sunday night.
POLOKWANE – The Mankweng police are searching for two unknown suspects following the fatal shooting of a 50-year-old man along the R71 near an overnight accommodation facility late on Sunday night.
According to police spokespersons, officers were dispatched to the scene at around 23:30. Upon arrival, they found a white sedan that had veered off the road into a ditch. The male driver was found inside the vehicle with gunshot wounds and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was shot while inside the car by the two suspects, who then fled the scene on foot. Witnesses reported that the suspects were speaking Zulu.
A case of murder has been opened, and police have urged anyone with information that could assist in the investigation or lead to the arrest of the suspects to come forward.
