Join PBG in spreading warmth to cancer patients and pensioners

Support PBG’s heartfelt Mandela month drive by donating handcrafted or essential items to comfort cancer patients and the elderly.

POLOKWANE – As Mandela Month continues, the PBG Help Group is calling on the community to open their hearts and help bring comfort to cancer patients and pensioners through a special winter initiative.

This non-profit organisation, known for its tireless work in supporting vulnerable groups, is collecting completed crocheted items including beanies, blankets, and soft toys, that will be donated to cancer patients at Cansa units and elderly residents in need.

These hand-crafted items are intended to offer more than just warmth – they also provide emotional support during some of the toughest moments in a patient’s journey.

Petro du Preez from PBG explained that the initiative is about spreading love and hope to those often forgotten.

“This Mandela Day, we want to give something that comes from the heart. You don’t need to be able to crochet to get involved. We’re also collecting donations of colouring books, crayons, water bottles, toiletries, snacks, and toys – small items that can make a big difference in someone’s day.”

These items will be distributed to both children and adults undergoing cancer treatment at the Pietersburg Provincial Hospital.

Volunteers are also welcome to assist with sorting and distribution on Mandela Day.

The deadline for donations is Thursday, July 17, and the drop-off location is at 23B Bodenstein Street, Luwalt Building, Polokwane.

Those who wish to contribute or have questions can contact Petro du Preez directly at 078 453 1433.
