Limpopo brothers arrested for alleged murder of father in Ga-Mothapo

Two siblings are due in the Mankweng Magistrate's Court today after a domestic dispute in Ga-Mothapo turned deadly over the weekend.

POLOKWANE – Two siblings, aged 29 and 32, will appear before the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court today on charges of murder following their arrest in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The duo were arrested in connection with the murder of their father (55) following a domestic dispute in Ga-Mothapo village, Tjatjaneng, in the Mankweng policing area on Saturday (July 19).

The Limpopo police spokesperson, Col Malesela Ledwaba, said officers responded to a complaint of domestic-related assault at around 11:00 on Saturday morning and found the victim unable to speak and severely assaulted upon arrival.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased had been assaulted by his two sons following an argument. The suspects fled the scene immediately after the incident and the victim was certified dead upon the arrival at the local hospital,” his statement read.

Ledwaba said the police launched an intensive manhunt and arrested both suspects at a hideout in a nearby village at 03:00 on Sunday morning.

He added that police investigations continue.
