Limpopo police seek Ethiopian national in connection with girl’s (12) rape

Limpopo police say an Ethiopian national, only known as Adino, hasn't been seen in Ga-Mampa Village since being confronted by the victim's mother over her alleged rape.

LIMPOPO – The police detectives in the Burgesfort, Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual offences Unit need help in locating a foreign national whose presence will be critical in solving a rape case.

The man in question, an Ehtiopian national known as Adino, is allegedly involved in the rape of a 12-year-old girl in Ga-Mampa Village, in the Mecklenburg Policing area.

The Limpopo police spokesperson Col Malesela Ledwaba said the victim left her home on July 15 to go to the local spaza shop.

She found the suspect with other customers and later approached him for material needed to make a ball.

“The suspect took advantage of her and raped her. The victim managed to escape during the ordeal and ran home where she reported the incident to her mother,” his statement read.

Ledwaba said the victim’s mother confronted the suspect about the incident and told him it would be reported to the police.

The matter was reported to the police and a rape case was opened.

“The suspect hasn’t been seen in the village since then and a manhunt was launched to track and trace him with no success. We call upon the male pictured below to report to the nearest police station as it is believed he can assist the police in resolving this case,” Ledwaba said.
