Thohoyandou café owner serves bold seafood experiences

Fulufhelo Mutengwe, owner of Fulude's Café in Mapate, offers bold, fresh, and exciting meals, and a unique dining experience.

LIMPOPO – In the rural village of Mapate near Thohoyandou, Fulufhelo Mutengwe is creating food experiences second to no other.

As the owner of Fulude’s Café, Mutengwe specialises in seafood and other uniquely crafted dishes, offering locals a taste of something different.

What started as a passion for travel and exploration quickly became an obsession with food innovation.

“When I entered the food industry, I became addicted to creating. My partner’s support and shared motivation helped me take the leap,” she told CV.

Mutengwe opened the café to bring something fresh and exciting to the Mapate community.

“Our village deserves spaces where people can enjoy good food, whether they can afford the ‘fancy life’ or not. Fulude’s Café is for everyone.”

But for her, food is just the beginning. “We don’t just serve meals, we create moments. From the warm welcome to the fresh, made-from-scratch dishes, we put love and passion into everything.”

Her vision is to fight poverty and unemployment by expanding Fulude’s Café into multiple branches. “It’s tough, and the journey hasn’t been easy, but giving up has never been an option.”

One of her most talked-about offerings is her boiled seafood, a dish that sparked curiosity and mixed reaction. “People have strong opinions, especially when you introduce something new. But those who taste it, are hooked. The others just haven’t tried it yet,” she laughed.

She remains grateful for the growing support: “Every review, every comment, it all matters. We are here to serve, grow, and make a difference.”
