The men, aged 39 and 51, were arrested at their homes in Phagameng on Friday (July 25), bringing the total number of arrests to five.

The arrests follow an incident on July 14, when a delivery truck transporting pallets of washing powder lost control and veered off the road near Modimolle.

During the chaos that followed, several people, including three SAPS employees, allegedly looted the cargo.

The Limpopo police spokesperson Col Malesela Ledwaba said the trio of SAPS employees appeared before the Modimolle Magistrate’s Court on Friday (July 25).

“Warrant Officers Frans Ndlovu (55) and Lesiba Boya (49) were each granted R3 000 bail, while SAPS cleaner Lucas Moima (50) was granted bail of R5 000. They are expected back in court on October 2,” his statement read.

Ledwaba said the newly arrested suspects are expected to appear in the same court today on charges of theft.

It is said Nlovu and Boya allegedly looted the spilled cargo using a marked SAPS vehicle, while Moima was later linked to the crime.

“A joint investigation by the provincial Anti-Corruption Unit and the Modimolle Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC) also led to the recovery of some of the stolen goods,” he added.
