Makhado mayor opens upgraded access road
Makhado’s new 4.8km paved road between Luvhalani and Dzananwa improves access, eases traffic, and enhances connectivity for local communities.
LIMPOPO – In an effort to accelerate service delivery, Makhado Mayor Dorcus Mboyi officially opened the newly upgraded 4.8km access road connecting Luvhalani to Dzananwa.
The road spans across four villages in Ward 29 and has been upgraded from gravel to a paved surface, marking a significant milestone for residents. The modern road is expected to improve mobility and provide easier access to various internal destinations within the villages.
The new road will also reduce traffic congestion by diverting motorists and learners away from the main gravel road. It offers convenient access to key local areas such as schools, community halls, churches and the village graveyard.
During the opening ceremony, Mboyi urged the communities of Luvhalani and Dzananwa to take care of the new infrastructure.
She stressed the importance of respecting the road and following traffic regulations to ensure its longevity.
“This is your project. The municipality will maintain the road, but we ask residents to avoid damaging or burning it. Engage with your local councillors if you have service delivery issues,” she said.
Mboyi described the completion of the project as a testament to the municipality’s commitment to improving infrastructure and enhancing residents’ quality of life. She added that the benefits of the road would extend to future generations.
Local resident Vhamusanda Vho Ramulayo Neluvhalani expressed his gratitude, highlighting the positive impact the road will have on everyday life.
“This road will improve connectivity between villages and provide better access to essential services like schools, healthcare facilities, and markets.”
