Driver killed after truck carrying bricks overturns on R81

The Limpopo Transport Department said officials may temporarily close the R81 later to allow for recovery of the overturned truck.

LIMPOPO – The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety will investigate a fatal incident after a heavy motor vehicle carrying bricks overturned along the R81 near Moseketla.

The transport spokesperson, Matome Taueatsoala said initial reports suggest the truck lost control and overturned.

Emergency services found only one occupant in the vehicle, believed to be the driver, who was declared dead on the scene.

Taueatsoala said the road is expected to remain closed from 15:00 to 17:00 today for vehicle recovery efforts.
