Police probe Mankweng murder after woman’s body found burnt

Mankweng police launch murder investigation after the burnt body of an 89-year-old woman was found dumped in local bushes.

LIMPOPO – Police in Mankweng have launched a murder investigation after the burnt body of a woman was discovered in the bushes at Mankweng Unit-G on August 25.

Limpopo police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, says 89-year-old Nare Dorcus Mothapo. had been reported missing at the Mankweng Police Station in March 2025.

“Police investigations revealed that the body was burned at a different location before being dumped in the bushes, where it was later found.”

Police have appealed to anyone with information that could help solve the case to contact investigating officer Sergeant Paul Mokhabuki on 082 756 9781, call Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or use the MySAPS app.
