Community in shock after brutal murder near LTT

Police are investigating the rape and murder of 40-year-old Tshilidzi Musida near LTT, which has left the community in shock.

LIMPOPO – A passerby discovered the body of the 40-year-old Tshilidzi Musida of Mashau Thenga in the early hours of September 24.

It seems she had been raped before she was murdered.

Marks on her bloodied, half-naked body reportedly suggest that some kind of struggle had taken place before she was stabbed repeatedly in the chest and over her body.

Local community members are stunned by the brutal way in which she was murdered, and parents were left frightened and concerned over the safety of their children.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Vuledzani Dathi confirmed the incident, saying that a case of rape and murder had been opened.

“Members at our detective unit are conducting an investigation, and hopefully we will soon make a breakthrough.”

He urged community members to come forward with evidence so that the guilty person can be arrested. “We are appealing to the community to cooperate with the police, so that the culprit can be arrested. Together, we can win the war against crime, so people must come forward with information,” he said.

The victim’s sister, Livhuwani Musida expressed what the family was experiencing.

“We are trying to come to terms with Tshilidzi’s death. The incident has really affected us. It will take a long time to get over this, but we put our trust in the police. We pray that the suspect will be found, even if we will never get our beloved Tshilidzi back. I have accepted that I will not see her again, but my soul is still troubled by the fact that police have not yet arrested the perpetrator,” she said.

The chairperson of the Real Men Foundation, Calvin Nenguza, said that whoever had killed the victim was not a real man.

“Real men do not kill. They do not rape their women, but give comfort and security to them. Let us all shout out in one voice against the abuse of women, children and killing,” he said.

Tshilidzi was buried at Mashau Thenga on Saturday.
