UPDATE: Thabazimbi father granted bail after son’s fatal shooting incident

A Thabazimbi father was granted R3 000 bail after his 11-year-old son accidentally shot and killed a farm worker.

LIMPOPO – The Thabazimbi Magistrate’s Court has granted bail to a 43-year-old man in connection with a shooting incident that left a farm worker dead after the man’s 11-year-old son accidentally discharged a firearm on Saturday (October 11).

The father, who faces a charge of negligent handling of a firearm, was released on R3 000 bail. The case has been postponed to December 12 to allow for further investigation.

Authorities confirmed that the child will undergo an assessment in line with the Child Justice Act to determine the appropriate legal and psychological support required.

Police investigations into the matter are still underway. The father’s identity has been withheld to protect the privacy of the minor involved.
