Mokopane learners pack their bags for US Academic Tour
Nathan Mahoney, Ruhan Welman, and Zandré Roos will join top achievers on a US tour of elite universities including MIT and Harvard.
MOKOPANE – Three Gr 8 learners from Ticky’s Tutoring, a registered Impaq centre, have earned an opportunity to broaden their horizons.
Nathan Mahoney, Ruhan Welman, and Zandré Roos are among approximately 1 000 top-performing learners nationwide who have the option to partake in the Academic Achievers Tour in the US.
Now in its 11th year, the tour offers academic achievers the opportunity to attend private lectures at some of the world’s leading universities, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Harvard, Yale, Columbia and Princeton.
Catrien van Loggerenberg, teacher and owner of Ticky’s Tutoring, said the learners were chosen from mainstream schools based on their outstanding academic performance.
“The three are very excited about the opportunity and can’t wait to experience what lies ahead. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience that recognises their hard work and dedication.”
