Louis Trichardt author inspires wives through book

Author Ndivhuho Baloyi encourages godly marriages in her new book The Garment of Submission, exploring love and spiritual strength.

LIMPOPO – Seeing wives thrive in their roles and wanting to shift the focus from wedding ceremonies to strong marriages is what inspired Ndivhuho Baloyi to write ‘The Garment of Submission’, a book aimed at helping women better understand the concept of submission within marriage.

Baloyi, who hails from Ha-Ramantsha village outside Louis Trichardt, said her motivation came from a deep desire to see marriages succeed, underpinned by biblical principles of love and submission.

“I want people to know that marriage was created by God, and He set the principles that govern it, namely love and submission. In the book, I explain the roles of wives in marriage to bring a deeper understanding. We are often told to submit to our husbands, but rarely are we taught how to submit. I’ve tried to show the balance between love and submission so that readers can begin to experience peaceful, godly, and dignified marriages.”

She started writing the book during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, inspired by what she calls “God’s vision for marriage and the spiritual beauty of submission”.

“Many people misunderstand submission as weakness. I saw it as divine strength, a reflection of the Holy Spirit’s presence. The book is meant to help wives rediscover their purpose in marriage and to show that true submission is a sacred act of love that brings peace and restoration to the home,” she said.

Baloyi, who is a teacher, wife, mother, part-time student, and now author, said that managing all her roles while writing the book was challenging but that it ultimately transformed her own understanding of marriage.

She credits her family, especially her husband, for their support.

“They believed in me, encouraged me and showed me the power of belonging. To write this book is to use my gift to bring God’s voice to the community and offer solutions, especially now, when we’re seeing so many divorces among young couples,” she said.
