Community urged to donate books for Maune Primary School library

The Kgadi Moshukutswane Foundation and Vahluri Reading Club have launched a campaign to collect books for Maune Primary School’s new library.

POLOKWANE – The Kgadi Moshukutswane Foundation and Vahluri Reading Club have partnered to launch a community campaign called ‘Help Us Fill Our New Library’ to collect books for Maune Primary School’s library.

They first visited the school during their school activation and literacy campaign earlier in the year and the visit was held to take pride in their community and care for their environment.

They discovered at the time that the school had already built and painted a new library and set up a computer centre for learners. The space looks beautiful and full of potential, but it’s still empty.

The ‘Help Us Fill Our New Library’ campaign aims to stock Maune Primary School’s newly built library with books and learning materials.

“The space is missing the finishing touches to bring the library to life. They are in need of books, especially storybooks written by black authors and we are specifically requesting English and Sepedi books since it’s a primary school. We also need, reading carpets, chairs, tables and bookshelves,” explained Kgadi Mashashane, the founder of Kgadi Moshukutswane Foundation.

They appeal to individuals, businesses and organisations to donate books or furniture items.

They also welcome anybody who wants to become involved whether by donating, helping organise or even joining them on the day they visit the school for a handover.

“Let’s come together to improve our community and do something special for our schools. Our belief is simple: Representation matters and a book today can create a brighter tomorrow,” she said.
