Another water outage leaves Penina Park, Ivy Park and CBD dry

Residents in Penina Park, Ivy Park Ext 34 and parts of the CBD are without water after a major pipe burst along the main supply line.

POLOKWANE – Residents in the south-western suburbs of Polokwane are facing prolonged water interruptions after a second pipe burst was discovered on the line supplying Penina Park, worsening an already critical situation.

The Polokwane Municipality confirmed that a major pipe burst occurred along the main supply line near a section where repairs were carried out on Thursday.

The incident left Penina Park, Ivy Park Extension 34, and parts of the CBD without water.

Later updates from local residents in community groups indicated that another pipe burst has since been found on the line leading to Penina Park, suggesting that repair work may take longer than initially expected.

Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala said that technicians are on site and working to repair both sections of the line, however, there is no estimated time for restoration at this stage.

“Our technicians are on site and working with urgency to restore supply as soon as safely possible,” said Selala.

He added that residents should use available water sparingly while repairs are underway.

The latest development comes amid ongoing infrastructure challenges that have repeatedly affected water supply across Polokwane’s suburbs in recent months.
