Reach For a Dream fulfils Mankweng teen’s wish
17-year-old Vhutali Makananise, living with lymphoblastic leukaemia, had her wish for a cellphone fulfilled by Reach for a Dream.
LIMPOPO – Reach for a Dream has made 17-year-old Vhutali Makananise’s dream of owning a cellphone a reality.
The teenager from Mankweng, who is living with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, received her gift through the organisation’s long-running Dream Raffle initiative.
For 37 years, Reach For a Dream has fulfilled six dreams daily for children facing life-threatening illnesses.
Now in its 30th year, the raffle continues to inspire hope by raising essential funds through community support and offering generous prizes. This year, the initiative aims to fulfil the dreams of 200 children across the country.
Vhutali, an outgoing and lively young girl who dreams of becoming an oncologist, needed a cellphone to stay connected with her family and friends while receiving treatment in Johannesburg.
The Dream Raffle made that simple but meaningful wish come true. “We’re thrilled to partner with Jetour and offer one lucky winner the chance to drive away in a brand-new car.
By purchasing a R200 raffle ticket, the public can help us bring more dreams like Vhutali’s to life,” said Julia Sotirianakos, the CEO of the foundation.
A R200 entry grants supporters a chance to win a Jetour X70 SUV sponsored by Jetour South Africa, as well as other prizes, including a two-night stay at three retreat properties across the country or R4 500 in shopping vouchers from a selection of local brands.
Only 3 000 tickets remain available at dreamraffle.co.za. The final draw takes place on December 15 or two weeks after the last ticket is sold.
All proceeds will support Reach For a Dream’s mission to uplift children with life-threatening illnesses. Terms and conditions apply.
