Serious N1 collision causes major traffic delays
A collision involving multiple vehicles on the N1 southbound near Ysterberg has caused road closures, injuries and major traffic delays.
POLOKWANE – A collision has been reported on the N1 southbound between Ysterberg and the Caltex Garage, with motorists urged to expect heavy delays.
According to reports from the Department of Transport and Community Safety, a vehicle lost control due to wet road conditions and collided head-on with another vehicle, resulting in a total of four vehicles being involved in the incident.
Department spokesperson Matome Taueatsoala says two people sustained injuries, one serious and the other critical.
Emergency services are on the scene, including an ambulance and an EMS helicopter, which is assisting with the airlifting of the injured.
The road has been closed to traffic, with officers currently on site managing traffic flow and conducting point duty.
Motorists should prepare for partial closures and delays, and are urged to drive with caution in the area.
