New fuel prices confirmed: What motorists will pay from Wednesday

The latest fuel price cuts are soon to be in effect. Here’s what motorists will pay for petrol, diesel and paraffin from Wednesday, January 7.

LIMPOPO – Motorists will officially start the year on a positive note as fuel prices come down from Wednesday, with significant reductions.

Petrol prices will decrease by between 62 and 66 cents per litre, depending on the grade. Petrol 93 will drop by 62 cents, while Petrol 95 will fall by 66 cents per litre.

Diesel users will benefit from even steeper cuts, with prices going down by R1.37-R1.50 per litre. The price of illuminating paraffin will also decline, dropping by R1.10 per litre.

According to the Department of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, the price adjustments reflect movements in international petroleum product prices and fluctuations in the exchange rate during December.

New inland fuel prices for January 2026:

  • Petrol 93: around R20.64 per litre.
  • Petrol 95: around R20.75 per litre
  • Diesel 0.05%: around R18.41 per litre
  • Diesel 0.005%: around R18.52 per litre
  • Illuminating paraffin: around R12.63 per litre

The latest decrease follows a period of pressure at the pumps and is likely to ease some financial strain as consumers and businesses navigate the early months of the year.
