LIMPOPO – On Tuesday (January 27), Lebowakgomo police arrested a 33-year-old man in connection with the rape of a 15-year-old girl in the Magatle policing area last year.

The incident occurred in February 2025 at Makgopong village. According to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the suspect forced his way into a home where the victim was alone during the day.

He threatened her with a sharp object, instructed her not to scream, and then raped her before fleeing on foot.

The case was reported to local police, who opened an investigation and began searching for the suspect.

The breakthrough came through forensic analysis, with DNA evidence positively linking the suspect to the crime.

A joint operation by Lebowakgomo police and the Mokopane Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit led to the suspect’s arrest at his parental home in Makgopong village.
