Shebeshxt case postponed as trial moves to regional court

Lehlogonolo ‘Shebeshxt’ Chauke will remain in custody after his Polokwane court appearance, with his case postponed to arrange a regional court trial date.

POLOKWANE – Prominent musician Lehlogonolo “Shebeshxt” Chauke appeared at the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court this morning (February 18).

His matter was postponed to March 27 for the arrangement of regional court date. On the set date, the court will announce the official trial date set to take place at the Regional court.

Shebeshxt faces nine charges including three counts of attempted murder and others. His appearance follows bail hearings and appeal that were denied in Polokwane Magistrate’s and High Court after not submitting exceptional evidence to be granted bail.

NPA provincial spokesperson Mashudu Malabi noted they finalised their investigations and are ready to prosecute. “We are ready to prosecute the matter. There are no possibilities of additional charges that I know of, we only have those 9 counts which we are going to centralise all the charges so it can be trialed in one court,” she said.

The accused will remain in custody.
