Road closures Thohoyandou for armed forces rehearsal

Several routes along the R524 will be closed this afternoon, February 19, for an Armed Forces Day rehearsal in Thohoyandou and surrounding areas.

LIMPOPO – The Department of Transport has issued a notice that several roads in Thohoyandou and Vuwani will be temporarily closed this afternoon (Thursday, February 19) to accommodate an Armed Forces Day rehearsal taking place from 15:00 to 20:00.

The following routes will be affected:

  • R524 Zwikwengani: Closed from 15:00 to 17:00

  • R524 Shayandima traffic light: Closed from 15:00 to 18:00

  • R524 Maungani Junction: Closed from 15:00 to 18:00

  • R524 Sasol traffic circle: Closed from 15:00 to 20:00

  • R524 Thavhani traffic light: Closed from 15:00 to 20:00

Department spokesperson, Matome Taueatsoala, says Armed Forces Day is a national event honouring members of South Africa’s defence force for their service and sacrifice. The rehearsal forms part of preparations for the official ceremony scheduled for later this week and is aimed at ensuring the event runs safely and smoothly.

Motorists are encouraged to plan alternative routes and allow for possible delays.
