United hold Celtics to 1-1 draw in Musina

Bruce Mogola’s late goal earns a 1-1 draw between Musina United and Baduzah Celtics in the ABC Mostepe League clash.

LIMPOPO – The ABC Motsepe League clash between Musina United and Baduzah Celtics ended in a 1-1 draw at Musina Rugby Stadium on Saturday.

United created early chances but failed to capitalise. In the opening minutes, Abel Kgomomuu’s shot was comfortably saved by Celtics goalkeeper Ntlhari Ngoveni. Moments later, Thendo Masindi missed a golden opportunity, firing over the bar with only the keeper to beat.

United’s Thomas Mbene was shown a yellow card for a rough tackle as tensions began to rise. In the 12th minute, Celtics Moses Mangena narrowly missed the target with a well-timed effort that sailed inches wide.

Celtics broke the deadlock in the 15th minute when Themba Nobela dribbled past several defenders before finding the back of the net.

The visitors doubled their attacking threat early in the second half, and Nkateko Xumalo capitalised in the 48th minute after receiving a square pass from Hlulani Khoza.

United came out strongly after the break, pressing hard and dictating the tempo. In the 60th minute, Thembi Nevhulamba had a clear chance to score but hesitated, allowing a defender to clear the danger.

Their persistence paid off late in the match when Bruce Mogola rose above the defence to head home the equaliser, ensuring the points were shared at the final whistle.
