Noordskool learners spread Valentine’s love to teachers

Noordskool learners in Polokwane surprised their teachers with thoughtful Valentine’s Day goodie bags to show appreciation and spread kindness.

POLOKWANE – Laerskool Pietersburg-Noord (Noordskool) learners showed their gratitude and appreciation for their teachers by preparing thoughtful goodie bags, filled with a variety of snacks, food, refreshments, and delicious cupcakes, on Friday.

The surprise gesture was part of the school’s Valentine’s Day celebration, themed ‘love your neighbour like you love yourself’, and was a wonderful way to spread love and kindness throughout the school community.

Leader guardian Magdel Lee said the initiative aimed to motivate kindness.

“The idea behind this project was to encourage our learners to think about others and show appreciation for the hard work that our teachers do every day.

All our leaders participated in this project and we’re so proud of them. They worked together to pack the goody bags and made sure everything was perfect.”

Lee provided the leaders with a few ideas for the bags, and they ran with it, adding their own creative touches and making it a truly special gesture.

The response from the teachers was overwhelming, with many expressing their gratitude and surprise at the thoughtful gifts.

The project received support from school parents, including Gr 7 learner Minkateko Khosa’s mom, Alice, who specially baked a batch of beautiful and delicious cupcakes for the teachers.

“A huge thank you to mommy Alice for taking the effort to bake these amazing cupcakes. They’re appreciated, and the teachers loved them,” Lee said.

She also thanked the school parents for their assistance and supporting their children with the project as well.

“It means a lot to the school, and we’re grateful for your support.

“The event was a wonderful way to spread love and kindness, and that the learners’ thoughtful gestures will surely be remembered by the teachers.”

My name is Anne Mametja. I am a mom of four and an identical twin. With a passion for media, I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Media and Television Production in 2012 and due to my love for children, I also hold a certificate in Nursing Auxiliary. As media is my first love, I started working at the Polokwane Review as a journalist in 2017 and it has been amazing thus far. I love journalism because I can be a voice to the community through my work. Journalism allows me to meet different people at the events I attend. Although there are certain beats that journalists stick to, being an all-rounder means I write community, schools, sports, hard, lifestyle and entertainment news. It also allows me to be versatile in the newsroom and assist where I can. ‘Journalism can never be silent, that is its greatest virtue and its greatest fault.’
