PEPPS highlights learning through play
PEPPS promotes learning through play to build creativity, confidence, and life skills in young children, says head Neandri Greyvenstein.
POLOKWANE – PEPPS preparatory and ECD are highlighting the importance of learning through play as a cornerstone of early childhood development.
Neandri Greyvenstein, the head of ECD, said learning through play forms the foundation of how young learners grow, explore and understand the world around them.
Through hands-on activities, children actively engage in meaningful and developmentally appropriate experiences.
“When children build, create, role-play, experiment and explore, they naturally develop both creative and critical thinking skills. These experiences help them make connections, express ideas and build confidence in their abilities,” she said.
Affectionately known as ‘Mrs G’, she said the benefits of play-based learning are far-reaching.
“It supports the development of fine and gross motor skills, improves language and communication abilities, and strengthens social skills and emotional well-being.”
According to Greyvenstein, this approach also nurtures curiosity and fosters a love for learning from an early age.
“By learning through play, children are not just prepared for school, they are prepared for life,” she said.
The school maintains that creating an environment where children can explore freely while being guided by teachers, lays a strong foundation for future academic success and holistic development, she concluded.
