Water disruptions scheduled for Polokwane

Polokwane Municipality announces planned water supply disruptions in March and April for Ebenezer Scheme upgrades, urging residents to conserve water and prepare accordingly.

POLOKWANE – The Polokwane Municipality has announced planned water supply disruptions affecting parts of the city as critical upgrades to the Ebenezer Scheme get underway.

According to the municipality, the interruptions are necessary to allow Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) to complete Phase 4 of the Ebenezer Pump Stations connection project, which is aimed at improving long-term water reliability and ensuring safe system operations.

Shutdown dates and phases

The planned shutdowns will take place in two phases:

  • Phase A: 36-hour shutdown from March 19 to 20 for the installation of new pump sets
  • Phase B: 24-hour shutdown from April 23 to 24 for final installation and commissioning

Residents have been warned that while water supply will be restored after each shutdown, full system recovery may take longer.

LNW has indicated that measures are in place to reduce the impact of the disruptions.

Call to use water sparingly

However, consumers are urged to use water sparingly in the days leading up to and during the shutdown periods to help maintain reservoir levels.

The municipality has encouraged residents and businesses to plan accordingly and store enough water for essential use.
