Vhembe Municipality launches service delivery war room
Vhembe Municipality introduces a service delivery war room to address water, electricity, roads, and health issues efficiently.
LIMPOPO – To accelerate service delivery, Collins Chabane Mayor Gezane Shadrack Maluleke officially launched the service delivery war room at the municipality’s civic centre last Monday.
Weekly meetings to monitor performance
The weekly war room meetings will monitor the performance of public representatives, speed up responses to service delivery issues, and improve coordination between national, provincial, and local government departments.
Attendees include the Vhembe District Municipality and senior managers from key sector departments such as Home Affairs, the police, Health and others.
Focus on water, roads, electricity, and health
Senior officials will report directly to political leadership on operational performance related to essential services including water, roads, electricity and health services.
Maluleke said the war room will primarily focus on service delivery.
“We want to fast-track all service delivery issues, not just those within the municipality, but also those of the district and all sector departments operating in our area.
“This structure will monitor programmes, hold officials accountable, and ensure the needs of our communities remain a priority,” he said.
He added that the initiative aims to make the municipality’s role visible through action and tangible results.
“The Service Delivery War Room will help remove obstacles, ensuring communities experience uninterrupted services, including fewer water cuts, shortages, leaks, and protests.
“Weekly progress reports on planned tasks will keep service delivery moving efficiently,” Maluleke said.
