Woman’s body found near Polokwane Airport

Police in Polokwane are searching for those responsible after the body of a woman with head injuries was found near the airport.

POLOKWANE – Police have launched a manhunt for those responsible following the discovery of a woman’s body in Polokwane on Saturday morning.

Provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, said the body was found at approximately 08:00 by a municipal cleaner in bushes next to the road, opposite Polokwane Airport and near the K9 unit.

Emergency Medical Services were called to the scene, where the woman was declared dead. She had sustained head injuries.

The deceased, believed to be around 35 years old, was found wearing blue jeans and was topless at the time.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim may have been murdered elsewhere and her body dumped at the identified location by unknown person(s),” Ledwaba said.

Police have since opened a case of murder and are searching for those responsible.

Anyone with information that could assist in identifying the victim or lead to an arrest is urged to contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Simon Ramothopo, on 079 397 0356, the nearest police station, or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

Investigations are ongoing.
