Two arrested in connection with Polokwane murder
Police in Polokwane arrested two suspects after a 26-year-old man was allegedly shot during an altercation and died in hospital.
POLOKWANE – Police in Polokwane have arrested two men, aged 25 and 27, in connection with a murder that took place in the early hours of Tuesday, April 7, on Magazyn Street.
Argument turns fatal
According to police, the 26-year-old victim was at a rented residence with his girlfriend at approximately 02:00 when two men, allegedly known to the girlfriend, arrived at the premises.
An argument reportedly broke out between the victim and the suspects, which escalated when additional individuals became involved.
Victim shot, dies in hospital
It is alleged that one of the suspects produced a firearm and shot the victim.
Following the incident, the same suspect allegedly asked others present to assist in transporting the injured man to hospital using his vehicle.
The victim was declared dead on arrival.
Suspects arrested, firearm seized
Police were alerted and, following a swift investigation, arrested the alleged shooter along with another suspect.
The firearm believed to have been used in the incident, which is licensed, has been seized for further investigation.
Court appearance pending
The two suspects are facing a charge of murder and are expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on April 9.
Police investigations are ongoing.
